On a recent flight, I sat behind a family with 4 kids, all under the age of 4. The parents were brave to attempt flying with that many young kids. Before takeoff, two of the kids were hungry and crying. All of the passengers around us rolled their eyes with the three hour flight ahead of us. Yet both the mom and dad smiled through it all. I couldn't stop watching how calm and happy they remained. They were in the bulkhead so they had to put all bags up above including the baby formula. Still, the mom smiled and said no problem to the flight attendant.

She is a woman to emulate. How many moms would be understanding while two of her four children are crying? I bet not many. Now the flight attendant says, "oh by the way, you can't use that car seat in this aisle, we need to take it and check it." Yep, you guessed it, the mom still smiled! Wow, this lady is amazing. As we took off, the kids stopped crying and myself and the other passengers commented on the terrific way mom and dad smiled through it. Both parents had a choice, they could get upset or not. My experience is getting upset probably won't help and instead may even make it worse.

Yet, if you keep smiling and stay happy, your attitude affects others positively and is a great example.

So my challenge for you is to smile through it. Whatever is going on keep smiling. Whatever isn't going as planned, keep smiling. Smiling helps and you look better doing it!
