Everyone leads someone every day. You might say..."No Angela, I don't lead anyone....no one works for me, I don't have a team of people following me, I don't own my own business, I don't have kids, I don't influence anyone or anything." That is untrue. Everyone leads someone regardless of what you do and who you know. Daily you are leading yourself. Daily someone sees how you treat them or someone else...that is leading. Daily you choose your attitude and that affects others...that is leading. If you are a parent, an aunt, a grandmother, a spouse, a friend..your actions are leading people and/or kids around you. So, since you lead someone every day, are you paying attention to how you are leading? Leading isn't only for CEOs it's for everyone and in everyday situations. Leading happens everywhere and at all levels of business and life. It isn't always in big ways either. For example, during my morning school drop off with my daughter, we pass a police officer, a security guard, a traffic crossing guard, a teacher and each person I see, I smile and wave. When I first did this several years ago my daughter said to me, "Do you know them?" I said, "No, I am just being friendly." I was leading her with my smile and my wave. Today she doesn't ask why, as it is part of our morning routine. Today she smiles and waves to strangers...why? To be friendly. I love it. She does it in restaurants, church, hotels, everywhere. What you do and don't do matters. It is all a form of leading. You are a leader. The question to ask is are you a leader (mom, friend, parent, spouse, business person) you want to follow?
Make today great, it matters.
